The Cala Gonone Jazz Festival was founded in 1988 as a project of the "Intermezzo Nuoro" association. It takes place every year in the locality of the same name located in the wonderful Gulf of Orosei (NU), in the period between July and August. Since its inception, the event has had the pleasure of hosting the greatest exponents of the international jazz scene, Italian and local enjoying the mixture of the most diverse sounds. During these 31 years, the association is committed to overcoming every difficulty and to offer its public high-level artistic performances, accompanied by tastings of typical products against the background of one of the most beautiful places on the island.
The history of Sardinia unfolds between invasions, rejections, self-determination and a culture that has taken on many facets over the millennia. Here, in the heart of the island, in a city that gave birth to a nobel prize, poets, writers and intellectuals who have made Nuoro known in the world, the Intermezzo cultural association is born. 1988 is the date of the first jazz festival in a place where no one would have bet a penny, and yet, after thirty years of music, local projects, events and culture, we are still here to discover new forms of art and entertainment, of enogastronomy and the enhancement of every aspect of our land and its potential on the international scene.
